DO YOU FEEL GUILTY ABOUT ME-TIME?

YOU’RE NOT ALONE. It’s very common and somehow even socially expected that we always care for others first; family, children, loved ones..

We often think that in order to be seen as a compassionate person, we must always be there for others. It’s ingrained in us that taking care of everybody else first, is the right thing to do.

BUT THIS IS SO NOT TRUE!!

Actually, always putting others first is hurting them more than it does them good.

In the end to really take care of others you need to have energy, power, and peace of mind.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU CAN DO IS TAKING CARE OF …💛 YOU 💛…

Because if you don’t take care of yourself YOU WON’T HAVE THE STRENGTH TO TAKE CARE OF OTHERS.

So STOP FEELING GUILTY about

✨ taking me-time,

✨ tuning out,

✨ talking about YOUR feelings, thoughts and emotions

✨ giving in to being tired

✨ asking help

REMEMBER TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF IS GOOD FOR YOUR LOVED ONES TOO!!

Because it gives you the strength to take care of them, but above all it also gives them purpose and a feeling of being needed and doing good in taking care of you.

I know it’s easier said than done, but life is fragile, something I learned to recognise the hard way during my battle with cancer. Don’t you wait until your real wake-up call!

Being able to hear the cues of your body and mind AND REACT to them by taking time off, resting, relaxing or even sleeping is super important! So important that Mindset & Wellbeing is a full module in my DECADENCE Mastermind.

Here is one thing you can implement right now yourself:

✨ choose your favourite piece of music that really absorbs you. It should occupy you so much that you feel it deep inside you

For me this is the Bolero of Ravel. Sure you know it, it starts really soft and then more and more orchestra instruments join in and the volume goes up and up and up … …

Listening to that music means I can literally think of nothing else. It vibrate inside me, clears my mind and shakes whatever hidden stress there is inside me out, sometime even leaving me in tears

✨ mark that piece of music as top favourite in all your playlists and devices

I have it at the top of my spotify account so I can access it from every device including my tv

✨ take regular me-time to listen to that music, fully emerging yourself in it, allowing the music to take over your brain, flushing out all other thoughts you have

I now do it once a week, but straight after my treatment I did this a lot more often

✨ as soon as the music stops you focus on what you’re grateful for and what joyful, fun, pleasurable activity you have planned for the near future

This is a great exercise to de-stress as when you concentrate on the music there is no space in your brain for other thoughts or worries. It also focuses your brain on happy and good things, away from anxiety and worry.

A VERY EFFICIENT WAY TO INCLUDE THAT IMPORTANT ME-TIME IN YOUR DAY AND STRENGTHEN YOURSELF to have the energy and focus to take care of others too.
